ABOUT THE INTENSIVE

  • EXUDE is an intensive Contemporary Dance training program. The program initially launched in January 2020 with a 4-week module that hosted 11 students, and featured 4 guest facilitators. Then, after the pandemic hit in March 2020, KTD pivoted and launched EXUDEonline which included two cohorts with 30+ students from around the world in July and August 2020. KTD also hosted an online mini creation intensive in January 2021, where students collaborated with Kylie to remotely create this short film.

The EXUDE Creation Intensive 2022 will be the most in depth rendition of the program yet. Students will join Kylie and guest faculty Diana León (Mexico City/Montréal) for 5 days of training in Floorwork, Partnering and Improvisation, as well as a creation period culminating with an intimate in-studio performance.

Additionally, students will be provided with a Dropbox link with Professional photos and videos of both in-class and performance moments.

Students should consider themselves advanced level dancers. Awareness and experience in floorwork and partnering is useful, but not required. Not sure if it’s a fit for you? Email us with a brief bio, training history and video and we’ll let you know if it’s a good fit.

Space is limited. Only 20 spots available. Register now! We can’t wait to train and create with you!

  • Morning Sessions with Diana León (Vias Danza, Les Grands Ballets de Montréal)

    10am-11:45am daily

Origen (Origin) is a training workshop developed by Paco Ziel and Diana León that aims to expand the participant's creative and performing abilities through a series of physical and mental dynamics that train and sensitize the body in a contemporary dance context. The exercises focus on elements such as individual and group improvisation, agility, concentration, body and vocal awareness, connection with others, stamina, floorwork, movement qualities and phrases. Origen encourages individuals to find and nurture their own movement language by offering them tools to play with, and by not imposing a specific aesthetic.

    Afternoon Sessions with Kylie Thompson

    12:15-3pm daily

Students will workshop partnering, floorwork and improvisation skills, as well as engage in creation tasks. Over the course of the five days we will create a work-in-progress which will be shown in-studio for invited guests at the end of the week. Kylie’s work focuses on themes of self-expression, communication and physicality. She aims to create a safe and supportive environment for dancers to thrive in.
