Additional Offering: Teaching Mentorship

I am offering two spots for teaching training/mentorship as part of this series!

This stream requires 5+ years of training in contemporary dance and an interest in teaching contemporary floorwork.

Students will complete the 6 week course and also have two one-on-one mentoring sessions with Kylie, around the 3 week mark and at the close of the course, in which they will discuss the course material from a pedagogical lens and receive guidance on how to pursue the avenue of teaching their own practice.

Please email kylie: kylie@kyliethompsondance.com and if we have not met before, introduce yourself and tell me about your previous training and why you want to be part of the mentorship.

sorry, no refunds at this time - I am open to you using class credit for future events. Just ask me!

I’ve trained for a couple years in ballet/jazz. Can i attend this course?

Yes! I offer modifications and keep a friendly, easy going pace in the room. Remember to take breaks to observe and listen to your body.

I’m an absolute beginner dancer, can I attend?

I wouldn’t recommend this. However, perhaps your background in gymnastics, martial arts, yoga or other movement practices feels like a good foundation for you - it is ultimately your choice.

Floorwork/technique with Kylie: Kylie’s class aims to take the body into a state of deep release in conversation with virtuosic expansion. We’ll move through lots of ways in and out of the floor, some improvisational tasks and phrase work that challenges the brain and body! Surface scans, threads, rolls and inversions will challenge the student’s physicality, body awareness, balance, mobility and agility. Bring your knee pads and clothing that offers good coverage.
