Byte Your Tongue

Kylie Thompson presents new solo work at Vancouver Fringe Festival

Byte Your Tongue is a contemporary dance solo set to a soundscape made almost entirely from women's voices.

The work is a movement response to how these voices harmonize, clash, evolve, challenge, demand, and observe. Supported by Audio from Stephen Joffe and Projection Design by Grace Sun, the piece creates a collage of movement, sound, and visuals that is at once cathartic and celebratory, intimate and frank.

Choreographed and performed by Kylie Thompson, Byte Your Tongue draws from themes of identity, communication, and societal expectations.

It invites audiences into a deeply personal yet universally resonant exploration of the female experience. Through striking physicality and evocative theatrical imagery, Thompson examines the power, complexity, and contradictions of women's voices in contemporary society.

"With sinuous weight sharing, innovative lifts, and seamless transitions, this emotionally potent movement piece about gender performance was the best Canadian modern dance show at Orlando Fringe in a decade."
